01

About these terms

Cut is made and run by JP Learning and Media (“we”, “us”). These terms apply when you create an account or use Cut on the web or on a phone. By using Cut you agree to them. If you don’t, please don’t use it.
02

What Cut is

Cut is a free app for keeping track of films: what you’ve watched, what you want to watch, your ratings and thoughts, and shared lists with friends. It also shows details about films, such as where they’re streaming and their soundtracks.
Cut is an independent project. It isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any studio, streaming service or the data providers listed below.
03

Who can use Cut

·
You must be 13 or over. If we find an account belongs to someone younger, we’ll close it.
·
You must give your real date of birth when you sign up. Only you can see it, and it can’t be changed afterwards; if it’s wrong, contact us and we’ll correct it.
·
If you’re under 18, Cut hides titles that may be unsuitable. This filter is a best effort and won’t catch everything.
04

Your account

Keep your login details safe; you’re responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has got into it, tell us straight away at jplearningmedia@proton.me.
05

What you add to Cut

What you log stays yours. To run Cut we need your permission to store it and show it back to you, and to the people you choose to share it with. By adding it, you give us that permission, free of charge, for as long as it’s on Cut.
·
Your profile is public unless you make it private in Settings. A public profile shows your name, favourites and the films you’ve logged.
·
Groups are shared with everyone in them, including the films anyone adds.
·
Song suggestions are checked before they appear on a film’s page. Once approved, everyone can see the song, but not who suggested it.
Only add things you have the right to share, and keep them accurate as far as you know. We may edit or remove anything that breaks these terms or that we think is inaccurate or inappropriate.
06

Using Cut fairly

Please don’t:
·
add false, offensive or infringing content, or harass anyone
·
pretend to be someone else
·
scrape, copy or extract Cut’s data beyond normal use, or try to get round its security or limits
·
do anything that disrupts Cut for other people
·
use Cut for anything unlawful
07

Film details and other services

Film information and artwork come from The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Where-to-watch information is provided by JustWatch through TMDB. Soundtracks come from Apple Music; links out to Apple Music and Spotify take you to their services and their terms.
This information may be incomplete, out of date or matched to the wrong film. Check with the service itself before relying on it, for example before paying to rent a film.
08

Who owns what

Cut’s name, logo, design and code belong to JP Learning and Media. Film titles, artwork and other film details belong to their owners and are used under the terms of the services that provide them.
09

Ending things

You can delete your account at any time from Settings › Danger zone. That removes your account and everything you’ve logged. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. We may also change Cut, or stop running it; if we stop, we’ll try to give notice so you can keep a copy of your data.
10

Our responsibility to you

Cut is free and run independently, so we provide it “as is”. We work to keep it running and accurate, but can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. We aren’t responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, or for losses caused by other services Cut links to.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or affects your legal rights as a consumer.
11

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and will change the date at the top when we do. For significant changes we’ll aim to let you know in the app before they apply. If you keep using Cut afterwards, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can delete your account.
12

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
